Dairy Farm

Today we went to a dairy farm.We saw lots of cow pats. We saw bulls, calves and cows.when the cows poo in the milking shed the poo gets washed away with a hose and it goes down the drain and under the ground and flows into a effluent pond .Cows spend 8 hours eating grass and 10 hours chewing their cud. ho It was really cool we got to see the cows get milked. After the cows got milked we tasted the fresh dairy cow milk. The fresh milk tasted fantastic there was a creamy flavour, a buttery taste and a wonderful milk taste. They used suction cups to milk the cows but you can also milk cows by hand and by a robotic machine. The best part of going to the farm was having a gumboot throwing contest. The finalasts were Blake, Ocean, Titus and Victoria.  That was the BEST DAY OF SCHOOL IN MY LIFE.

The WHOLE middle syndicate are learning about dairy farms. My teacher Mrs Williamson found a game  where you milk cows by hand , with a milk machine  and  a robotic one. The fastest way to milk a cow is to use a milk machine.The slowest way is to milk by hand. I enjoyed milking cows on the computer but    I think milking cows forreal would be hard.  We will find out when we visit Miss Workman's farm.
